Sponsorships

€ 115,000 in sponsorship money raised for ZOA. For full education in Uganda; by students of the Driestar College

Many people fled to Uganda because of the war in South Sudan. They are taken care of but life is not easy there. Many children have no access to education. The schools that are present are small and do not have enough teaching materials. In addition, the teachers are not well trained and they themselves have no place to live. Third year students of the Driestar College are working together with the Dutch relief organisation ZOA to offer both refugee children from South Sudan and Uganda a good education. Driestar College and ZOA have been working together for decades to help refugees. This year, for the first time, they used the mobile journeys of MIC for an even more efficient and larger reach.

The Journey

In order to raise money, over 850 students from 5 different locations of the Driestar College attended classes at night, for which they let themselves be sponsored. They received a unique QR code with which they could collect money in their own name. Through WhatsApp and e-mail they distributed the donation journey in which they invited the recipient to make a donation through Tikkie. Through a dashboard they could track their own and the total amount raised. This made fundraising not only interactive and safe, but also provided a motivating element of competition.
